Delivery
Made to order & delivered
From their hands to your home.
Nothing is built until you order it. Your piece is then made for you in Jepara and travels by the route its size deserves. Duties are included — the price you see is the price to your door.
Smaller pieces · about 3–4 weeks
Mirrors, shelves and side tables travel by express air, carefully packed and delivered duty-paid to your door.
Statement pieces · about 8–12 weeks
Consoles, cabinets and tables travel by sea in a purpose-built crate and are delivered to your door, duty-paid.
What “to your door” means.
We would rather be precise about this than have you guess.
Your piece arrives crated and protected, and the carrier brings it to your door — the entrance of your home or building. Bringing it inside, unpacking it and positioning it are yours to do.
- Plan for two people on anything larger than a side table. Solid teak is heavier than it looks.
- Check the crate before you open it. Photograph any damage to the outside of the crate before unpacking — it makes any claim straightforward.
- Keep the crate until you are satisfied with the piece.
- Measure first. Doorways, corridors, stairwells and lifts, against the dimensions on the product page.
If your piece needs to go somewhere a crate cannot easily follow — a fourth-floor walk-up, a narrow staircase, a room at the back of a house — write to us before you order at hello@teakwa.com. We can usually arrange an inside delivery for an additional cost, quoted honestly.
You approve it before it ships.
Because each piece is one of a kind, you see it before it leaves the workshop. We send photographs at the key stages — the raw build, the finish, and a final preview — and nothing is crated until you are happy. Nothing ships unseen, least of all by you.
Why the wait is the point.
A made-to-order piece takes longer than something pulled off a shelf, and that is the whole idea. Your teak is kiln-dried for four to six weeks and metered to 10% moisture before a chisel touches it — which is why it stays true in a dry, heated home. We would rather you wait than watch a piece crack in its first winter.
Changing your mind, and things going wrong.
Cancelling
You have 72 hours from placing an order to cancel it for a full refund, no questions asked. After that your timber has been selected and cut, and the piece exists only because you ordered it — so we cannot take it back. Pieces made to your own dimensions cannot be cancelled once production begins.
If something is wrong on arrival
Tell us within 10 days of delivery. Send photographs, and an unboxing video if you have one — it makes a transit claim quick to settle rather than slow.
Then we fix it, and how we fix it depends on how bad it is:
- A scuff, a mark, a small finish flaw. We send you the oil and materials to put it right, with instructions — or, if you would rather not, we pay for a local restorer and reimburse you.
- Something more than cosmetic but repairable. We arrange and pay for a local furniture repair, or agree a partial refund with you and you handle it. Your choice.
- Serious damage, or not what you ordered. A replacement piece or a full refund. Yours to choose.
Why we fix rather than take it back
Returning a crated console across an ocean costs more than most repairs and puts a piece that could be saved into a skip. We would rather spend that money making yours right in your own home. Returns are available where nothing else will do, but they need our written agreement first — please talk to us before sending anything back.
What is not a fault
Teak is a natural material. Colour variation, grain movement and small knots are characteristics of solid wood, and an oiled finish deepens over its first months. Fine hairline movement at a joint can happen as a piece settles into a drier climate; we kiln-dry to 10% specifically to minimise it, and we will always advise on remedy. You see photographs of your actual piece before it ships, so nothing about it should be a surprise on arrival.
Duties and taxes
All prices include import duties and taxes for the United States and Canada. There is nothing to pay on delivery.
Where we deliver
United States and Canada. For anywhere else, write to us at hello@teakwa.com and we will quote the route.
Care
Oil the surface once a year with a natural hardwax oil. Keep the piece out of the direct blast of a radiator or air-conditioning vent. Wipe spills dry rather than letting them sit. Teak improves with this small attention — it deepens rather than wears.
